About the publication

Helping readers make better plans for Bali.

The Bali Guideline is a Bali-based travel and lifestyle publication covering places to stay, restaurants, events, destinations and experiences across the island since 2016.

Last updated: 12 October 2026

Who we are

The Bali Guideline started in 2016 and is run from Bali, Indonesia. Articles are produced by The Bali Guideline Editorial Team. A named byline appears only when an individual's writing or editing on that article has been confirmed.

How we choose what to cover

Venues and topics reach the site through four routes:

  • First-hand visits. Our team visits selected venues to try the food, services or activities, or to see the property and its atmosphere.
  • Editorial research. We use official websites, Google Maps, Instagram, Tripadvisor and other public sources.
  • Community recommendations. Suggestions from people who live in Bali, our followers and the wider Bali community.
  • Commercial partnerships. Some venues are featured through paid collaborations.

Not every venue on the site has been visited by our team. We are adding labels page by page so readers can see which coverage is based on a visit and which is based on research. Until a page carries a visit label, please do not assume a personal visit.

How the site is funded

The Bali Guideline earns money from sponsored articles, paid featured listings, paid social media campaigns, and affiliate commissions on bookings made through partners such as Booking.com and Klook. Venues sometimes host our team at no charge in exchange for content. These relationships are explained in our Editorial Policy and Affiliate & Partnership Disclosure.

Corrections and contact

Bali changes quickly. If a venue has closed, moved or changed its details, send the page URL and the corrected information through our Contact page.
