By mentioning the word “Bali”, it evokes a thought of a paradise, tropical setting. Bali offers adventures, some hidden sights which for many people, the idea of walking through the jungle to secret waterfalls are fun, and as you reach, take a swim and dip yourself in cool waters brings the feeling of paradise. There are many waterfalls in Bali, and each of them has different levels of difficulty to reach. With amazing tropical landscape, Bali is a home to some of the most serene waterfalls!
Here are few things to know before you start your waterfall hunting in Bali:
- To get to most waterfalls in Bali will require 15 – 20 minutes of light hiking
- Don’t forget to bring swim suits, towels or extra clothings and ready to get wet
- If you are lost on your way, ask the locals or people nearby to help you get the right path as some waterfall directions are not clear
1 Sekumpul Waterfall
Sekumpul Waterfall is considered as the most beautiful and the highest waterfall in Bali. There are seven waterfalls on the Niagara Sekumpul , but only two waterfalls that you can go closer. To get closer to the waterfall, you will need to do an extra workout as you have to a bit of trekking and go through about 400 steps. Cross a river and explore the jungle, then you finally arrive at the base of Sekumpul Twin Waterfalls.

2 Aling - Aling Waterfall
Aling – Aling Waterfall is a stunning series of waterfalls near Singaraja City. It is one of the tallest waterfalls in Bali and there are several other waterfalls around this area such as Kroya Waterfall. To go here, you have to walk along the rice fields and up and down the stairs about 400 meters. You will pass by at least 2 smaller waterfalls in a small river near the fields. Next, go through hundreds of stairs to get to the base. Once you reach here, you will be rewarded with the beautiful landscape waterfall that removes all your fatigue. Guides are available in here, recommended for those people who want to swim. The Sambangan area is very unique and you can see up to 7 waterfalls within short distance. However, exploring the seven waterfall will take up the whole day. There are Pucuk Waterfall, Kembar Waterfall, Kroya waterfall, Canging Waterfall, Dedari Waterfall and Cemara Waterfall. The pool waters are crystal clear from the mountains.

3 Banyumala Waterfall
Banyumala Waterfall is one of the lesser known waterfalls in Bali. The location is near to Lake Buyan, however, when you come here, you may find it difficult to find because there are little arrow / directions signs on your way. When you arrive at three intersections near Jalan Raya Pancasari, go towards the north to reach this waterfall.
Enjoy the fresh and pure waters and swim like its your own private natural pool! Feel the wind, the splash of waters coming down from the waterfall.
4 Git Git Waterfall
Git git waterfall is located on the north of Bali, not too far from Lovina and remains a popular tourist destination in Bali for years. With its bridge walkway and cool waters, Git git is one of the most visited & popular waterfall in North of Bali. The 40 meter waterfall is impressive and the lush vegetation and peaceful surroundings were a great short break. This is a great place to take some time to be quiet, enjoy a refreshing swim time. The path to Gitgit waterfall is lined with souvenir stalls and guides offering their services.
5 Kroya Waterfall
To complete your visit to Aling Aling waterfall, don’t forget to visit Kroya waterfall. It is worth visiting as you can swim in its large blue lagoons and the waterfall is a natural sliding waterfall! This is one of the most entertaining waterfall in Bali Island as you can do sliding from the top to the bottom of the waterfall. Try this extreme sport and make sure you have a guide with you for safety reasons.
6 Secret Garden
Secret Garden is one of the several sightseeing you will get to see as you are on your way to Aling-Aling and Kroya Waterfall in Sambangan area. Usually in most trekking in Sambangan, the trekking starts from Secret Garden which will take about 30 minutes. Along your trekking adventure, you will see ricefields view, several plantation areas such as coffee & fruit plantations before reaching Secret Natural Swimming pool. It offers a refreshing swim at such a well hidden site in village of northern Bali. When dry season comes, water is almost translucent that you can see the bottom of the pool clearly. As the sun starts to radiate through this secret garden, here we can relax and swim. To get here, when you reach Sambangan, go towards direction to Banyumala river. If you still want to continue your waterfall journey, you can go up and walk around 20 minutes to pass by another 4 waterfalls.
7 Tegenungan Waterfall
Tegenungan Waterfall is the hidden waterfall in Ubud Village, to reach this waterfall you have to descend hundreds of steps and along the banks of the River Tukad Petanu. With its fresh air, natural green surroundings you will fall in love with this waterfall. This place is also perfect for swimming and you can actually jump right into the waterfall, since the height is approximately 15 meters high.
8 Munduk Waterfall
With a natural fresh air, Munduk Waterfall brings relaxation and good short geataway to its visitor.There are two waterfalls in Munduk, these are Munduk Waterfall and Melanting Waterfal, but mostly people call both Munduk Waterfalls. Melanting Waterfall is higher than Munduk and situated about 1 kilometer to the north of the first waterfall (Munduk Waterfall).
