Seminyak is one of the busiest area in Bali right now as it is where the current party scenes, the trendiest cafes and shops exist along the streets of Seminyak. Jalan Petitenget is a street in Seminyak area, where you will find lots of shops lining and there are many tourists walking around the street.
When you are around Petitenget area, you will find numerous restaurants serving brunch and coffee, and one of the place that you should check out is The Fat Turtle which is located near Cafe Organic Bali (also one of the best place for those looking for healthier food options). Right next to the Deus Ex Machina, car parking space is limited here, but if you ride a motorbike you can just park your motorcycle at the front.
It is relatively a small cafe, yet it will make you feel like home and cozy to relax for hours. The signboard is quite small and not clearly seen, so you may find a little trouble finding it, we recommend to see the writing of The Fat Turtle with turtle sticker on the glass window. Interior styling is more to industrial look with brick walls with several turtle wall art graffiti. In front you will find a small space where you can sit outdoor, yet you will see more indoor seating options for this cafe.
We love the vintage-dining tables with crochet hand-made container for their tea mugs and plating accessories. If you are into ceramic tile patterns, there is a mix of grey industrial flooring with colorful tiles in the middle which creates a pathway to the display counter. Once you sit, you will be given their menu and greeted by their friendly staff.
Popular with its pancakes, if you feel like eating something sweet, you should try their Red Velvet Pancake. The portion is quite big with ice cream on top, this is one of the best pancakes in Bali. The pancake is fluffy, not too sweet and perfect with the ice cream. For main course, you can try the Creamy Spinach and Mushroom and Kaffir Lime Leaf Sweet Corn Fritters. What we love most here is their addictive Green Tea Churros, we always come back to eat churros with coffee on the side. Overall, the food here taste pretty good so you can never go wrong trying anything here.
Pricewise, in comparison with most cafes in the street of Petitenget, The Fat Turtle is pretty affordable with reasonable portion. It is where you can spend time with your friends in a group of 2 – 6 people or when you want to find a place to work, sip coffee and eat desserts while getting busy with your laptop. For coffee, you can try hot Cappucino or Affogato here. You may find several people regularly come here for its ambiance and food, and overall a cool cafe worth to check out for!
